Juristication
This is a fun, and fast read relating to some of the strangest people, laws, and facts regarding the American legal system.
Origin of the Title
The title of the book is derived from one of the stories in the collection. It involves the persona lity of Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, James Clark McReynolds who served on the high court from from 1914 until his retirement in 1941.
There is very little dispute that McReynolds was an able jurist. He was known as one of the “Four Horsemen who opposed legislation proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great Depression and wrote landmark decisions in protecting civil liberties under the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The story in this book is not about he judicial abilities , but rather his personality and prejudices which were so all encompassing that the famous reporter, Drew Pearson referred to him as the “Scrooge me thee Supreme Court”. To say anything more would spoil the fun for the reader.
